Following significant market interest, logistics software provider CartonCloud has chosen Vancouver as its headquarters in North America.

The rapidly growing logistics management software company has more than 380 customers across North America, Australia, and Asia, providing powerful and easy-to-use software to give small-medium businesses the tools they need to meet rising demand, shorter delivery expectations, and to manage the current workforce shortages.

CartonCloud Chief Operating Officer Shaun Hagen has been nominated as their head of North America, following their successful completion of a $12 million capital raise from MA Financial last year.

“There’s a huge market here for purpose-built software to support SMB last-mile providers to optimize operations, and streamline workflows to work smarter and boost results,” Hagen said.

“Last mile operators in Canada and across Northern America are contending with higher demand, faster turnaround expectations, and overcoming rising operating costs, which is exactly where our software comes in, to overcome day-to-day issues and support growth.

“It’s been exciting to hit the ground running in Canada and we are really encouraged by the potential for CartonCloud to make a big difference to the industry.

“Our laser-like focus on customer success, ease of use, and reliability will continue to resonate with logistics companies in Canada just like it has in Australia and New Zealand.”

Based out of Vancouver, Hagen has spent the last two weeks on the road travelling across Canada, to meet with customers and bring on board two new hires as part of CartonCloud’s growing local support team.

“Vancouver is the right home for CartonCloud’s North American operations thanks to its thriving business community and growing tech scene,” Hagen said.

“CartonCloud works with a lot of SMB logistics companies in Australia and Asia, and SMB logistics providers represent a big segment of the market here in Canada as well.

Hagen said there were significant opportunities for SMB logistics companies in Canada to turn from paper-based processes to automated transport and warehouse management systems.

CartonCloud’s integrated warehouse and transport management systems allow SMBs to enhance their operations through features that provide automation of data entry and admin, better integrations, flexible and efficient workflows, and enhanced recipient experience for last-mile providers.

The software automates data entry, which can allow SMB logistics companies to reduce administration overheads by 80 percent while increasing output and taking on new business.

Hagen said more and more logistics companies in Canada required solutions to optimize their operation.

“It’s a game changer. Automation software like CartonCloud is the difference between a company leaking money and working overtime or a company that runs smoothly, makes profits, and gets the job done on time,” he said.

“The software does the heavy lifting in terms of data management, and also provides optimized workflows to capitalize on ways they can build efficiencies into their operations.

“Software has to be intuitive and easy to use, so we’ve developed a platform where a business can onboard their entire operation in a day - not weeks.

“Small businesses don’t have the time to stop their operations for a long period of time as they change systems - they need to get on with work and keep their customers happy.

“Transparency is king in the 3PL market right now and software provides real-time and accurate data at your fingertips; for your team, partners and also your customers.”

Hagen said CartonCloud had also developed software features increasing the ease and efficiency of transloading or cross docking, in response to the needs of the industry.

“Cross docking can be a complex operation when the stock comes in temporarily, gets sorted in a staging environment, then goes out on a different truck with other stock for delivery to a similar area,” he said.

“A key feature of CartonCloud is that logistics companies can easily monitor incoming and outgoing orders, scan and locate inventory, and cross dock for efficient distribution.

“Massive efficiencies and value can be found if a business can sort stock quicker and decrease the likelihood of sending stock out on the wrong vehicle.”

Hagen said entering the Canadian market was a huge milestone for the Australian business.

“Canada is a key market for us moving forward and we’re really excited about the future here,” he said.

“We’ve set ourselves an ambitious goal of securing 40 new customers in North America by the end of the year supported by a local team of eight staff, which will provide a strong foundation for CartonCloud to grow.”
