2nd Port Development South East Asia Summit 2021

It’s well acknowledged that a modern and well managed port sector is crucial to South East Asia’s economic progress and to expanding global trading routes. Major ports in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Myanmar are currently planning to expanding, upgrading or building new port facilities.

When it comes to Thailand, several projects are worth mentioning. Regarding the Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Phase 3 (worth 55.4 billion baht, on 1,000 rai), IEAT awarded the contract to Gulf MTP LNG Terminal under PPP model on 1st Oct. 2019. For Laem Chabang Port Phase 3 will continue though delayed. PAT has ambitious plans to revamp Klong Toey to turn the port area in Bangkok into a world-class trading centre, which will cost 490 billion baht over two phases spanning 20 years, though this plan needs the approval from cabinet. Thai government looks to revive Pak Bara and Songkhla deep-sea port projects.
