The American Trucking Associations and ATA’s Technology & Mainteance Council congratulated the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for the progress the agency has made in its Tech-Celerate Now technology analysis and education program over the past year.

“We’re very pleased to share the progress Tech-Celerate Now has made in examining various safety technologies and setting a course for expanding the industry dialogue on the potential safety benefits of these systems,” said Ross Froat, program co-developer, ATA director of technology and engineering policy.

During the recent TMC 2021 Spring Meeting, Tech-Celerate Now released four videos describing the features and benefits of advanced driver assistance systems  technologies related to braking, warning, steering and monitoring functions and two guides with information on the safety benefits of ADAS, as well as return on investment expectations.

FMCSA developed the Tech-Celerate Now program to help reduce fatalities, injuries and crashes through expanded use of ADAS. The FMCSA program is analyzing industry awareness and perceptions of ADAS, with the goal of increasing its voluntary adoption among fleets and owner-operators.

Tech-Celerate Now, launched in February 2020, is focused on accelerating the adoption of ADAS by the trucking industry to reduce fatalities and prevent injuries and crashes. Many industry leaders are working together on the Tech-Celerate Now program, under the leadership of ATA, ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council, American Transportation Research Institute, and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association Foundation.
