ATA Freight, a leading global logistics and freight forwarding services provider, has again demonstrated its sustainability leadership. The company, which for years has been proactively engaged in practices to protect the earth, preserve its natural resources, and address climate change, has reached a major milestone in its support of Trees for the Future (TREES). TREES is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to end hunger and poverty by training farmers to regenerate their land which ATA Freight has been supporting since 2011. In 2019, ATA Freight expanded its relationship with TREES by participating in a TREES Adopt a Project wherein it helped establish the Kaffrine 7 Forest Garden Project in the Missirah area of the Kaffrine Region of Senegal. In the years that followed, ATA Freight has continued its involvement with TREES.

Recently, the company reached a major milestone in surpassing a goal of facilitating the planting of over 200,000 trees. With its latest donation, ATA Freight will be credited with the planting of 217,000 trees in 87 forest gardens, restoring over 87 acres of land, and helping to sequester 12,528 metric tonnes of CO2 over the next 20 years. Additionally, through its support of TREES, ATA is helping 700 people move out of hunger and poverty and toward a more independent, healthy and sustainable quality of life.

ATA Freight’s Chief Operating Officer Matt Goker stated, “Sustainability has become the mantra for governments and businesses around the world. There are many commendable initiatives underway from the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Climate Agreement to the Smart Freight Centre and its Global Logistics Emissions Council Framework. I applaud all of the companies supporting these and other sustainability goals. It is imperative that we all do our part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address climate change.”
