Compass Forwarding’s project logistics team completed another ultra-heavy-weight machinery delivery with the movement of a metal fabrication press weighing over 450,000 Lbs. from Eastern Europe to the US Midwest.

The specialized multimodal solution included both containerized and breakbulk ocean transportation from Eastern Europe to the US East Coast, white-glove transload, and delivery to a job site more than 500 miles inland using a 16-axle, ultra-heavy haul tractor-trailer. The delivery required oversize route planning, permits, and escorts in five states.

The machine, an RMT H-SMART HDD 1650 is capable of 1,650 tons of stamping pressure. It was the second time in a year that Compass successfully transported this exceptionally large machine.

"The current supply chain challenges will not hinder us from delivering tailored solutions to our clients - even for the most complex shipments," commented Rob Shelala, Vice President at Compass Forwarding. "We were proud to be trusted with such a technical project not once but twice in the past year."
