HysetCo has crossed a key milestone in its industrial development with the inauguration of its fourth hydrogen distribution station at the Porte de Saint-Cloud in Paris. This new station, the largest in Europe today for light vehicles, is capable of producing and delivering up to 1 tonne of low-carbon hydrogen per day.
A key step in HysetCo’s industrial development
This significant increase will support the rapid growth of hydrogen mobility usages. In the Paris region alone, HysetCo already distributes more than 16 tonnes of hydrogen per month, representing around 6,000 hydrogen fills and more than 1.3 million kilometres travelled each month by its clients. For the first time, a hydrogen station is equipped with an electrolyser that enables to production and distribution of low-carbon hydrogen locally.
A leading hydrogen mobility start-up in France
With this new station, HysetCo is continuing its mission to accelerate the transition to a zero-emission mobility solution for intensive usages, such as passenger transport and professionals. This ambition is aligned with the environmental goals set by Europe, France, the City of Paris and the Paris region to lower air pollution rapidly, as well as with the climate ambition of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In this perspective, HysetCo is actively aiding its clients with their transition from combustion vehicles to zero-emission hydrogen mobility. The company manages more than 300 hydrogen vehicles today leased for taxi usage in the Paris region – a strongly growing segment – and is developing a range of hydrogen-powered light commercial vehicles.
A project supported by key public and private operators
The construction of this new station is supported by public sector partners committed to economic development and the energy transition, in particular ADEME, the Paris region, the European Commission and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.
Complementing this, HysetCo has benefited since its creation from the backing of private investors specialising in the energy transition (Eiffel Investment Group, Mirova, Raise and RGreen Invest), together with the support of its shareholders and industrial partners who are key players in the hydrogen sector, such as Air Liquide, Toyota, Total Energies and Kouros. This strategic support allows HysetCo to continue deploying its unique hydrogen ecosystem.
In this regard, the start-up is pursuing its growth by expanding its scope and usage with the objective of covering the Paris region with a network of a dozen hydrogen stations by the end of 2024. This network will serve the most promising zero-emission mobility usages planned over this period, in particular in the perspective of the Paris Olympic Games, such as taxis and passenger transport, professional usages with utility vehicles and the emergence of other hydrogen mobilities such as coaches, trucks or boats.
Loic Voisin, CEO of HysetCo, says: “We are firmly committed to improving air quality. We are proud to inaugurate the biggest hydrogen station in Europe, a key step in HysetCo’s industrial project and the acceleration of the transition to zero-emission hydrogen mobility. We thank all our partners who support our vision of a hydrogen mobility platform and enable us to deploy our ecosystem and hydrogen solutions effectively on a large scale by expanding its scope and usages”.
Richard Ferrer, Head of the "Alternative Fuels & Innovation" sector at the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Agency (CINEA), says: "The implementation of this project illustrates the support given by the European Union to accelerate the transition to low-carbon mobility in Europe. The H2F4P Hydrogen Fuel For Paris project further positions Paris and the Paris Region as European benchmarks for low-carbon transport, and helps accelerate the achievement of the Green Pact for Europe. HysetCo has been awarded a total subsidy of €6.7 million from the European Interconnection Mechanism (EIM) to help improve the daily lives of Parisians and Europeans in general, in association with ADEME, the Ile de France Region and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.
Mirela Atanasiu, Executive Director a.i. , Clean Hydrogen Partnership, says: “Clean Hydrogen Partnership support, through its flagship H2ME2 project,t was crucial for the development of an HRS network in Europe and in France. We aimed both to develop and increase the use of the refuelling station network, which is helping to make owning and operating the new technology commercially viable. I am happy to see that hydrogen mobility is already well represented in Paris and in France and will continue to develop thanks to innovative and purpose-driven companies like Hysetco. Large-scale deployment of fuel-cell buses, taxis and refuelling stations in major European cities is allowing the public to experience first-hand the cleaner, quieter ride that hydrogen-powered vehicles offer”.
