Locomation, the world’s first trucking technology platform to offer human-guided autonomous convoying, announced today the hiring of James Murphy, a former Congressional Advocate on Capitol Hill as the Vice President of Government Affairs.

“Locomation is quickly expanding our core team with important players,” said Dr. Çetin Meriçli, CEO of Locomation. “James is a great addition as he comes to us with years of experience working within the US government in both chambers, and will monitor and help shape legislative initiatives as we move forward with our approach to the future of autonomous trucking.”

As Vice President of Government Affairs, Murphy will be responsible for Locomation's legislative priorities at the federal, state, and local level. In addition to advancing the company's legislative priorities, he will work to ensure Locomation is protected from harmful legislative initiatives.

"I'm very excited to be part of Locomation and the future of trucking," said James Murphy. "As a Class A CDL holder for the last 18 years and government affairs professional in the technology sector, I truly believe Locomation will lead the evolution of autonomous trucking  through improved safety, better fuel economy, reduced emissions, and overall better economic value for the clients we serve."

Prior to his appointment at Locomation, Murphy founded Daybreak Strategies, a D.C.-based government affairs consulting firm. He also worked as an in-house lobbyist for Motorola Solutions. Murphy started his career on Capitol Hill working for Senator Susan Collins on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) before taking on senior positions in the US House of Representatives.
