The Department of Commerce served a subpoena on a Chinese company to support the review of transactions pursuant to Executive Order 13873, Securing the Information and Communications Technology and Services (ICTS) Supply Chain. The action taken today is an important step in investigating whether the transactions involving this company meet the criteria set forth in the Executive Order.
Unrestricted acquisition or use in the United States of ICTS designed, developed, manufactured, or supplied by persons owned by, controlled by, or subject to the jurisdiction or direction of foreign adversaries poses a significant risk to the national security interests of the United States. The subpoena served today allows the Commerce Department to collect information that will help make a determination regarding the potential risk to the security of United States and its citizens.
