Arvato, an innovative, tech-focused global logistics service provider specialized in supply chain management and e-commerce, has acquired the US-headquartered companies Carbel LLC and United Customs Services.

Carbel is a full-service 3PL provider serving national and international clients across various industries, with a strong focus on fashion and retail. Offering custom warehousing, distribution, storage, and transportation services, the company operates out of its six strategically located facilities in the U.S., with a footprint of 1.6 million square feet (150.000 m²) of warehouse space in Florida (2), Pennsylvania (2), California and New York.

United Customs Services offers complete import and export solutions delivering a high-quality service. The company specializes in Remote Location Filing across the USA, customs clearance, and trade compliance. CTPAT-certified since 2007, United Customs Services is known for simplifying global trade processes that help streamline operations for clients in international markets.

“This strategic move enables our companies to expand our service offerings to our clients and also grow our client base, particularly in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle segments”, says Frank Schirrmeister, CEO of Arvato.

Joined forces for new opportunities

“With deep expertise in retail and apparel logistics services, Carbel and United Customs Services are the perfect partners to strengthen our ability to provide even more tailored solutions to our clients. Our combined knowledge and our joint commitment to excellence will drive our growth within the US and open new opportunities”, explains Schirrmeister. “We are looking forward to unite as one team that shares the same values and continually strives for success.”

“This transaction is most welcome by Carbel as it is a natural evolution in our continuous growth. Arvato’s strengths, experience and worldwide presence will benefit tremendously our customers growth as well as ours”, says Javier Torrens, CEO of Carbel. “We are confident that our companies’ culture aligns and shares the same values that we have held for the last 20 years and I am confident of the success that we will achieve together for our present and future customers.”

Next milestone in growth strategy

The two acquisitions follow Arvato’s recent acquisition of ATC Computer Transport & Logistics, that specializes in high-security transport and technical services in the data center industry, demonstrating its commitment in diversifying its portfolio and scaling operations in key growth sectors. In the US, Arvato will have a total network of 16 warehouses with about seven million square feet (650.000 m²) of warehouse space after the acquisition.

The US ecommerce sector experienced high growth rates in the last years and is expected to grow year-on-year by 5% within the next five years. Lidia Ratajczak-Kluck, President Large Scale Fashion at Arvato, highlights the importance of this acquisition: “Joining together in this partnership allows us to combine our networks and expertise, reinforcing our capability as a leader in fashion logistics and extend our services to our clients in this dynamic industry.”

Arvato, Carbel and United Customs Services will now prioritize a smooth integration process, ensuring continuity and maintaining their high-level quality, while working closely to align strategies and explore new opportunities.
