A tentative agreement has been reached between the BCMEA and ILWU Canada on a four-year deal. Port operations at Vancouver and Prince Rupert are to resume effective 1630 hours on 13 July.

Our terminal contacts have expressed confidence that they will be able to quickly process incoming cargo and return to normal operations. Should operations resume as stated, we anticipate the schedule below will be in effect.

Rail Update:

Customers are advised to pick up imports from the ramps as soon as possible to keep the ramps fluid and to reduce any possible congestion at the terminals. The carriers have already pre-staged equipment so as to expedite the resumption of operations upon the conclusion of the strike action.

CN expects most ramps to be receiving empties and exports again between 48-72 hrs. CPKC is currently reviewing its plans for re-opening inland terminals and acceptances, as well as the vessel schedule updates. Be sure to check directly with your rail service providers for their latest updates.

The Maersk team is grateful for the efforts of all parties in the negotiation for arriving at an agreement. We look forward to the full resumption of port operations and the ability to service our customers in the most efficient way possible. We appreciate our customers’ patience in the event of any potential downstream congestion effects arising from the work stoppage and look forward to the network’s return to full steam ahead.
