The Port Manatee Propeller Club honored Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 1 Secretary Stan Cann with its highest honor as Maritime Person of the Year during ceremonies March 13th at the Bradenton Yacht Club.

Cann received the award based on his support of Port Manatee’s infrastructure improvement projects, offering funding assistance through the Florida Department of Transportation. Since his appointment to District 1 Secretary in 2004, Cann has been instrumental in helping Port Manatee secure more than $25 million for expansion efforts.

Denise Stufflebeam, Port Manatee’s business manager was honored as Propeller Club Member of the Year. She serves on the organization’s board of directors and is its treasurer.

Port Manatee Propeller Club President Steve Tyndal presented the inaugural President’s Award to Port Manatee’s Anne O’Roake for her dedication to the club. She coordinates monthly speakers, writes a monthly newsletter and manages the club’s annual golf tournament.

Port Manatee’s Propeller Club is chartered by the International Propeller Club of the United States and is dedicated to furthering the nation’s maritime industries and the U.S merchant marine. The local chapter is comprised of nearly 100 members and is accepting new members.
