In a challenging market environment, cargo-partner recorded a significant increase in turnover as well as volume growth in all areas of its business activities in 2021. The successful growth trajectory is also reflected in the expansion of the global branch office network and an increase in warehouse capacity.
cargo-partner, one of the leading logistics providers in Slovenia, opened its logistics center in the immediate vicinity of Ljubljana Airport in September 2019. In the past two years, the company has recorded a steep business growth, despite many challenges in the logistics industry. Based on the high demand for warehousing space and e-commerce capabilities and the ideal location near Ljubljana Airport, the company decided to increase its storage capacity early. Originally, the expansion had been planned for the period between 2024 and 2026.
The construction of the new warehouse building on the northern side of the existing complex started in February and the expansion will create 30 additional jobs. The new building will offer more than 18,000 pallet slots on 14,100 m² across three floors. Part of the facility will be dedicated to e-commerce, including a “drive-in” pick-up point to personally collect or return packages. Moreover, cargo-partner plans to build a drone runway right next to the new warehouse section and will be working on obtaining the required operating approvals in the near future.
“The new warehouse will allow us to offer additional storage capacities, which are currently in short supply on the market. At the same time, this modern facility will also function as a fulfilment center, where we will provide all the technological and IT support that online retailers need,” says Viktor Kastelic, Manager Director of cargo-partner in Slovenia.
The Austria-based company has been present in Slovenia since 1996 and views the country as one of the most important hubs for its business operations in the CEE region. The local branch offers a complete range of transport and logistics services at two locations – in Koper and Ljubljana – currently counting almost 140 employees.
Capacity Expansion in Zagreb
cargo-partner has also recently opened a new logistics center in Zagreb, Croatia. The new facility is located near Franjo Tuđman Airport, right next to the A11 motorway. The warehouse comprises 12,000 m² of storage space, 13,500 pallet slots and a 900 m² mezzanine, a cross-dock area and a dedicated space for value-added services like picking and packing, packaging, and consolidation.
