EIA releases new US energy atlas with updated maps and enhanced navigation

Today, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) released the U.S. Energy Atlas, a new interface for web map applications and a comprehensive open data catalogue. The U.S. Energy Atlas shows detailed energy infrastructure in redesigned maps with enhanced navigation and data accessibility features. With the U.S. Energy Atlas, users can now combine EIA’s data with information from other sources to customize their own geospatial analysis.

Jumbo installs Karish FPSO mooring system while breaking its deep-water record in the process

On behalf of TechnipFMC, Jumbo Offshore successfully completed the first phase of work on Energean’s Karish gas field offshore Israel in October. Jumbo’s scope of work included transport and installation of 14 suction piles (part of a 14-point FPSO mooring system), a tie-in manifold and a 24 inch deepwater gas sales spool. Jumbo installed the components at a depth of 1,760 metres, breaking its own deep-water installation record. Jumbo’s work is scheduled to recommence in 2021, with the hook-up and installation of the Energean Power FPSO, the first FPSO ever to operate in the East Mediterranean

NJ Governor Murphy announces $250 million total investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to build wind turbine components

Governor Phil Murphy, alongside EEW, Ørsted, legislators, and members of the building trades, today announced a $250 million investment in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to build steel components, known as monopiles, for offshore wind turbines that will serve the entire United States offshore wind industry. The facility, which will be located at the Paulsboro Marine Terminal in Gloucester County, is the largest industrial offshore wind investment in the United States to date and will create more than 500 high-paying jobs at full build out. Construction on the facility will break ground in January 2021, with production beginning in 2023.

As 2021 will bring the largest crude deficits in years, a window of opportunity opens for producers

The Covid-19 pandemic has devasted crude and condensate demand in 2021, creating massive supply surpluses and filling up inventories, causing producers to slash their output in order to keep prices at somewhat profitable levels. Rystad Energy’s latest balances, however, show that 2021 could offer producers a window of opportunity, as monthly supply deficits may reach their highest level in years.
