Cleantech Group today recognized 8 exceptional visionaries who have made significant progress in championing sustainable innovation.  These winners were celebrated at an awards dinner at the kick-off evening of Cleantech Forum North America. 

Seven companies are part of the 2025 Global Cleantech 100, an annual list of the most innovative and promising companies that will take us from commitments to actions in our efforts to reach net-zero. An additional award was given to a cleantech pioneer, recognized for his dedication to the advancement of cleantech innovation.

“These innovators give us reasons to be optimistic about the future. Their groundbreaking work demonstrates that progress toward net-zero remains possible and inspires us to double down on the challenge of addressing climate change,” said Richard Youngman, CEO of Cleantech Group.

Company of the Year

Honors companies with the highest ranking in the list this year in each of three regions:

North America: Fervo Energy has created a technology for power generation using enhanced geothermal systems.

Europe & Israel: Instagrid creates portable power packs for professionals with various applications including construction, small businesses, and event organizers.

Asia-Pacific: Indra Water provides a modular wastewater treatment system based on a patented physio-electrical process to remove pollutants (suspended and dissolved) and pathogens from water.

Early-Stage Company of the Year

Awarded to the highest-ranked product development/pre- or early-revenue company on the list:

AtmosZero is a supplier of an on-site heat production process to provide an alternative to fossil fuel systems.

Rising Star Company of the Year

Awarded to the highest-ranked new entrant on the list, appearing on the list for the first time.

There were two Rising Stars awards made:

Energy, Power & Mobility: Koloma has developed the technology to identify, access, and produce geologic hydrogen, resulting in clean, cost-effective energy worldwide.

Resources & Environment: Aclarity creates electrochemical water purification systems revolutionizing PFAS management and destruction with proprietary technology to provide sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.

Hall of Fame

Recognizes the achievements of the few companies whose sustained excellence has resulted in being on the Global Cleantech 100 list an impressive 7 times. To maintain widespread support among investors and technology scouts in the market year-over-year is a great achievement. Once inducted into the Hall of Fame, companies will not be featured on any future editions of the list.

Svante produces filters and machines that capture and remove CO2 from industrial emissions and the air, with a carbon capture technology that is based on unique solid sorbents.

Cleantech Pioneer

Wal van Lierop, Founder and long-time Managing Partner of Chrysalix Venture Capital, has been honored with a Cleantech Pioneer Award in recognition for his > 20 years at the helm of one of the most respected global venture capital firms for cleantech and industrial innovation. Over his long career, Wal played a pivotal role in raising over $350M for Chrysalix and participated in more than $3.5B in venture capital funding. As of 2025, he has transitioned to a part-time role at Chrysalix as Founding Partner with focus on exiting the last four portfolio companies of Chrysalix’s legacy fund.
