Due to the significant increase of dwell time incurred for putting Import Reefer containers on rail via the port of Montreal (Montreal Gateway) and to keep ensuring the highest quality of service to our customers, CMA CGM will recover an Emergency Surcharge that will apply for each container that requires to be moved by rail to inland ramp destinations.
Effective as of January 9, 2019 (vessel ETA date), this Emergency Surcharge will apply as following:
Reefer all types: USD 300 per unit
• This measure is required due to unprecedented Reefer volumes coming into Montreal combined with powerpack shortage and winter conditions which are also contributing to this congestion, resulting in our RF’s containers are immobilized longer than usual dwell time.
• This surcharge will cover the extra expenses to implement a hot rush truck service for all Reefers going to Toronto and to move off dock the RF’s going to the Prairie and Western Canada.
• This is an additional surcharge to the pre-determined inland rates (pre-carriage or on-carriage) and shall apply to tariff or service contract rates, whether a Canadian inland rate is included in base ocean rate or if inland rate is applied under inland construction basis.
• This amount will be reevaluated on a monthly basis.
