In its continuing drive to make supply chain management simpler and more efficient, CN today launched Customs Clearance Services for shipments entering Canada from the United States or overseas.

CN will arrange to have shipments destined to all regions of Canada cleared electronically through Canada Customs. The new services will also benefit CN WorldWide - the company’s international freight forwarding subsidiary - with electronic customs clearance of shipments arriving at Canadian ports for distribution across the country.

By offering customers value-added, competitively priced customs clearance services, we’re making it simpler and easier for them to do business with us and to compete more effectively in the marketplace. CN expects the Customs Clearance Services will drive more business over its network, assist CN WorldWide attract new clients, and help the CN Customs Group improve the fluidity of the rail network by expediting clearance of customers’ rail cars or intermodal shipments.

CN Customs Clearance Services will include obtaining the release of imported goods; delivery instructions; paying any duties that apply; obtaining, preparing, presenting or transmitting necessary documents or data; maintaining records and responding to any Canada Border Services Agency issues after payment.
