DHL Global Forwarding has been selected as preferred international carrier for Siemens' air and ocean freight and Customs Brokerage business in the US. The global contract awarded to DHL will support Siemens in improving service levels, reducing costs and streamlining their overall supply chain.

DHL has also been re-awarded the exclusive contract for the Siemens Energy and Automation Europe to US Drop Shipment Program. Siemens selected DHL as the only provider endorsed for its US to Worldwide business and received the freight forwarding endorsement for all regions.

Mike Brewer, Director Corporate Transportation, Siemens Shared Services, LLC, said: 'The Siemens North American Traffic Council is delighted to announce that we have selected DHL Global Forwarding to carry out this work for Siemens. DHL's expertise in developing supply chain distribution and management solutions that support our business goals combined with its global service capability has been outstanding. It was on this basis that the contract was awarded. We've worked with DHL for the last 15 years and we look forward to strengthening our partnership with them further.'

'We are uniquely positioned to provide a range of product offerings and services under one umbrella, integrated into a total supply chain solution for Siemens,' said Peter Boeker, Global Customer Director, DHL Global Customer Solutions. 'In particular we've been able to use both our Express and Global Forwarding services to launch the Drop Shipment Program for Siemens.'

'Our solutions have a proven record to reduce costs, streamline the supply chain process, reduce transit times and deliver overall improved service levels and visibility to Siemens' customers,' said Hans Toggweiler, CEO DHL Global Forwarding, North America. 'We are delighted to have the opportunity to deliver even more results for Siemens over the next year.'
