ECU Worldwide, a global multi-modal logistics major and the world’s leading player in Less-than Container Load (LCL) ocean freight consolidation, today announced the appointment of Clas Thorell as the Global Head for LCL Product & Yield Management. Clas will focus on digitizing partner freight forwarders' experience by delivering 24x7 access to bookings and real-time tracking and build a stronger network of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and E-commerce companies globally. He will be based in the Hong Kong office.

Bolstered by the transformation initiatives focused on digitization, ECU Worldwide’s proprietary ECU360 platform will help to deliver door-to-door logistics support cost-effectively to freight forwarders as well as SMEs and unlock global growth opportunities. ECU Worldwide’s recent acquisition of a majority stake in Nordicon, a Swedish logistics company, to expand its LCL presence in the Nordics region and in Europe gives them a strategic advantage to leverage an all-new rail freight proposition that starts from China to Europe. 

As the Product Management Head, Clas will lead the efforts to build a competitive advantage for ECU’s LCL portfolio, a central element in the growth strategy of the company. Known as a strong operating and product management leader who builds teams around a clear strategy, Clas has over two decades of experience in the Ocean freight-LCL business leading growth turnarounds of several businesses throughout his career.

As a veteran of the ocean freight business with international experience, Clas brings prior experience leading the LCL business for DHL in the Asia Pacific region. Clas has led Panalpina’s Ocean freight-LCL business for over a decade, being responsible for managing global teams involving product innovations and customer service.
