Exel announced that it earned a 'Continuous Improvement Supplier Award' from Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., a leading global semiconductor company. Freescale presented the award at a supplier recognition banquet earlier this month in Austin, Texas.

The 'Continuous Improvement Award' is based on a rating system evaluating cost competitiveness, delivery, quality, service and technology. Freescale's freight team evaluators recognized Exel's steady improvement over the past few years, and noted that the Company consistently met or exceeded expectations.

Freescale's evaluators cited various Exel innovations that helped Exel to improve in each of the rating categories. For example, the two companies analyzed cost information to facilitate and prioritize cost reductions, and reduced inbound delivery time to improve overall cycle time.

"Exel continues to control costs and reduce delivery times, which helps us to offer more efficient and high-quality services to our valued customers," said Wayne Ray, Manager of Capital Sourcing for Freescale's Supply Management team.

In addition to international heavy airfreight and seafreight management services, Exel provides global distribution services to Freescale in the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. Exel also manages dedicated Freescale warehouses in locations throughout the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Exel began providing freight management services to Freescale more than 25 years ago. Freescale is a global leader in the design and manufacture of embedded semiconductors for the automotive, consumer, industrial, networking and wireless markets.
