GEODIS, one of the world’s biggest transport and logistics operators, has chosen Portrix Logistic Software (PLS) as a partner for generating transportation quotes to its customers online. PLS is integrating its WebQuote solution, an extension of its leading Global Price Management (GPM) software, with GEODIS’ web portal IRIS.
IRIS is the “Intelligent Real-Time Information Service” of GEODIS, an online solution for the company’s freight forwarding customers. The new service developed with PLS will greatly simplify the process of obtaining instant transportation prices.
It is, says Henning Voss, Co-founder and CEO of Hamburg headquartered PLS, a way to deliver competitive advantages for forwarders, while enhancing the service they provide to their own customers.
“This is an important evolutionary step for an industry that is becoming increasingly digitised,” Voss states. “By simplifying the quote process into one web-based, and fully integrated, tool, a freight forwarders’ customer can input, and access, all the information they require to get the right quote for their specific needs. GPM will then help facilitate the process of turning that price estimate into a concrete booking.”
“We are gaining a real competitive edge by combining such a leading digital solution with the global operational setup that GEODIS provides, and seamlessly integrating it with IRIS, which is probably the best customer facing freight management platform in the market,” says Dean Devasia, Chief Information Officer for GEODIS’ Freight Forwarding business.
PLS has over 15 years of niche sector expertise and is committed to a continual process of innovation and improvement. Voss believes this provides a solid foundation not just for its products and services, but also for building relationships with logistics leaders such as Geodis.
“We work very closely with our customers and really understand their individual needs,” Voss concludes. “Geodis has established itself at the forefront of the sector and we look forward to helping them add further value to their services in the coming months and years.”
