Globe Tracker ApS, a first mover and market leader in large-scale refrigerated container telematics, is now expanding their offering with a novel solution for dry container tracking - Dry360TM - seeing every angle of container tracking. The patent pending Dry360TM is the first all-in-one multi-sensor unpowered asset tracker, which was designed to not only support location, but is enriched with six unique sensors as well an ultra, low-power machine-learning co-processor. Globe Tracker emphasizes that future AI applications will require a new level of data from many adaptive sensors, and Dry360TM serves as an integrated edge-based sensor platform capable of providing new insights and use cases for intermodal dry transport. Dry360TMalso contains smart solar charging of an internal long-life and ATEX safe battery capable of lasting up to 10 years, and can operate for months in darkness as well.
“Never before has there been a container tracking device with such a high level of sensor functionality and machine-learning intelligence at a competitive cost compared to location-only trackers. The days of harvesting relatively low return on investment (ROI) using the single “location-only” use case is now over, Dry360TM enables a multitude of new use cases creating a virtual container intelligence center with extremely rapid ROI. The market and stakeholders will decide on how useful they want their container tracker to be, and we are ready. We have seen it before with our reefer innovations,” said Joel undir Leitinum, CEO, Globe Tracker
High Security - Dry360TM features tamper and defeat-proof proprietary based door sensing to detect, open, close, or even removal, capable of instant detection even during small openings at short intervals without false alarms. This will not only reduce theft and diversion but reduce potential illicit contraband and contamination from entering the supply chain.
Empty or Loaded Detection - Internal advanced sensor technology detects if container is loaded or empty creating multiple new use cases such as timely and re/prepositioning management based on usage, cargo movement, theft, mis-loading, billing for usage or extra days, and other security related potential future applications in combination with other sensors such as contamination detection or human trafficking.
Complete Cargo Condition - Dry360TM also supports the ability to monitor temperature and humidity inside the container which can be valuable information for the whole class of semi-perishables including grains, root vegetables, certain baked goods, or wines which are temperature, humidity or mildew sensitive but do not make the cut for reefer transport. In addition, sensitive or high value electronics, medical devices, or other industrial material can benefit from better cargo monitoring during transport. The ATEX compliant system can also be used to detect extreme temperatures which can improve safety in the event of rapid temperate increase due to fire or dangerous good hazards.
Shock, Motion, and More – A built-in Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) – with accelerometer and gyro to detect motion, measure precise force, angular rate, and orientation to detect container and/or cargo damage, due to mishandling, providing a path toward reduction of insurance premiums and to drive claims to responsible parties.
Failsafe Global Connectivity – Dry360TM supports global cellular connectivity with the existing ubiquitous wireless infrastructure while supporting latest low power IoT standards for highest communications reliability over the next decade or more, without relying on less than fully-adopted standards such as CAT-M still not globally deployed and roaming in place, resulting in connectivity gaps. The device also is capable of connecting with smartphones, auxiliary sensors, or gateway infrastructure via Bluetooth (BLE).
“We decided to pull all of the sensors we saw for future applications into a single device now which installs in one minute and operates for many years with zero maintenance, for the lifetime of the device or asset - making Dry360TM very unique,” said Mark Oudshoorn Globe Tracker’s Chief Engineer. “Other solutions may require external sensors which take additional time and cost to install, maintain, and depend on varying battery life and/or challenges and security of local wireless connectivity. So we made an all-in-one device that can detect almost everything going on in or about a dry container, together with a new ultra-low power intelligent machine-learning edge co-processor hardware platform. Future devices won’t want to send a lot of raw data to be processed in the cloud (for both connectivity costs as well as distributed computing architecture reasons), and while processing lots of sensor data on battery powered device is very challenging, we found that perfect balance to make it easy,” added Oudshoorn.
Dry360TM will operate seamlessly with Globe Tracker reefer devices, gensets, and other Globe Tracker products under the company’s market leading GT Sense platform.
