Kuebler Spedition, member to the Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE) network in Germany, reported about their transport of a 272 ton heavy transformer from Nijmegen, Netherlands to a jobsite in Kupferzell, Germany. This was the heaviest transportation ever done through Schwaebisch Hall county in Southern Germany.
Based on careful planning, consuming 1.5 years, the transport started in Nijmegen where it got loaded onto a Rhein-river vessel to Heilbronn in Germany. After lifting onto a special hydraulic-lifting heavy duty trailer from Kuebler Spedition, certified for carrying a 350 ton load and able to lift the cargo upto 1.5 meter high over obstacles on the road, the transformer arrived at Kuebler Spedition’s Heavy Cargo storage in Michelfeld, which is specially equipped for the storage of transformers with oil inside. This storage facility is situated directly on the official heavy cargo transport road for that region.
After a complete closing of a mayor highway the transport convoy entered several small villages enroute, where spectators could not believe their eyes and some where of the opinion the transport to have gone the wrong way or will get stuck, based on the size of the load and the complete length of the special trailer with pulling tractors.
More than 30 people got involved in this remarkable operation. After arrival ontime at the jobsite in Kupferzell the escorting police and transport insurers inspector stated: “Everything worked like textbook and we are very satisfied with the work delivered by the Kuebler Spedition team”.
