​The carrier has increased its footprint in Latin America to support the region’s burgeoning pharma industry, which grew by nearly 9% in 2012HYPERLINK “x-msg://64/#_ftn1”[1], providing an important trade link to the destinations across IAG Cargo’s Constant Climate network.

The additional LATAM stations have opened at El Dorado International Airport (Bogota); Juan Santamaría International Airport (Costa Rica); Tocumen International Airport (Panama); Simon Bolivar International (Venezuela); and La Aurora Airport (Guatemala). In total, IAG Cargo now has in place 12 Constant Climate-open airports across Latin America and 87 worldwide, with additional stations scheduled to open later this year. Each new station completed a series of training modules and full quality audit before being added to the network.

In order to enhance connectivity between LATAM and Europe, IAG Cargo has also announced the opening of an additional Constant Climate station in Europe, situated in Lisbon International Airport, Portugal. Additionally, IAG Cargo is set to increase capacity at its London Heathrow Premia facility by 20% to make the most of growth opportunities from international pharma trade flows, with building having also commenced on a new dedicated 7000sqft Constant Climate Centre at the carrier’s hub airport. This new Constant Climate centre will have the ability to offer intact pallet stowage (28 pallets or 56 AKEs) as well as loose cargo in a temperature-controlled environment (2-8°C and 15-25°C). This means that both LHR and MAD hubs can offer both intact and loose cargo stowage within these key temperature ranges.
