It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we share with you the loss of a valued colleague and friend, Mark Dearborn, VP of Global Accounts for Arpin Group. Mark was involved in a serious automobile accident on March 17 and succumbed to his injuries.

Mark was the devoted father of his daughter, Alexie, and was proud of her accomplishments. Our thoughts and prayers are with Alexie and his family at this time.

Mark joined Arpin in 2000 and held over 30 years' experience in the moving and storage industry, including many executive roles, which involved serving on Arpin's Management Committee. A talented individual with a personable nature, Mark proudly represented Arpin at many domestic and international organizations which afforded him the opportunity to forge many friendships throughout the world.

While Mark was a capable business professional, he distinguished himself through his philanthropic activities. Among his many achievements, Mark served as president and one of the original founding members of the Arpin Charitable Fund, Inc. d/b/a Arpin Strong. The 501(c)(3) organization was formed in 2013 in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings to show support for the relief efforts. Under Mark's leadership, the organization has raised well over $315,000 for charity and helped hundreds of worthy causes.

In addition, Mark's career at Arpin exposed him to many cultures and provided him with enhanced opportunities to make a difference to the well-being of people throughout the world. Most recently, Mark had returned from Panama City, where he helped construct four houses for the homeless in the two days prior to the LACMA conference. Mark also proudly served as a member of the FIDI Global Charity Committee and was on the board of directors of Marguerite's Place.

Along with being a global business professional and philanthropist, Mark was also an accomplished athlete. He played hockey for Southeastern Mass University (now UMass Dartmouth), and went on to play minor league hockey in the U.S. for two years and professionally in France and Austria.

In addition to hockey, Mark was an avid runner and participated in the annual Run to Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation / Massachusetts General Hospital Program, and was a member of the group "I Run Four," where he ran to help raise awareness about children and adults living with mitochondrial disease.

Mark was a man of honorable character, cared deeply for the community, and led by example. We will all miss a great man and friend.
