TIA recently reported on a bill introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives (House Bill 4915) that would have created a logistics center impact fee. TIA, along with the leadership of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and numerous industry stakeholders, advocated in strong opposition to the bill and also met with the bill’s sponsor. It has been reported the sponsor is withdrawing the bill because of the industry's concerns. This is a great victory for TIA members and businesses in Illinois.
This legislation would have imposed an annual fee on the owner of each logistics center located in Illinois. The impact fee would have varied depending on how many trucks on average utilize the logistics center.
TIA thanks its members who shared the impact of this logistics tax on their business. These anecdotal stories truly make a difference when negotiating with lawmakers on behalf of TIA members.
