The Jacksonville Port Authority announced that Michael B. Poole has been named acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO), assuming overall responsibility for the agency’s finance department.

In his new role, Poole will be responsible for all of JAXPORT’s accounting, financial forecasting and financing functions.

“Mike has the experience and demonstrated ability to oversee and manage our finances, an area that is vital to the port authority’s continued success,” said JAXPORT Executive Director Rick Ferrin. “I have full faith and confidence that Mike is ready for the job”

Poole has more than 20 years of government finance, accounting and auditing experience. Prior to joining JAXPORT in 2006 as Director of Finance, he served as Deputy Port Director at the Port of Pensacola, where he was responsible for administrative, financial and operations aspects of the port. He has also served as an auditor for the Florida Auditor General and with a public accounting firm. In addition, Poole served in the City of Pensacola’s Finance Department.

Poole is a certified public accountant and certified government finance officer. He graduated from the University of West Florida with a B.A. in Accounting.

Poole succeeds Ron Baker who has resigned.
