Jerry Wood, a professional driver with Penske Logistics out of Evansville, Indiana, was named the 2020 Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) Driver of the Year during its Annual Meeting Awards Dinner at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country in San Antonio, Texas. The award is sponsored by Mack Trucks.

“Jerry is emblematic of the kind of driver we want representing our industry,” said TRALA President and CEO, Jake Jacoby. “An individual who gives back to his community, takes his profession seriously, and is committed to safety. His record of more than 6 million miles driven without a single accident is impressive and he truly illustrates how vital our industry is to the greater economy. It is a privilege to honor Jerry as our Driver of the Year.”

TRALA member companies nominate their top drivers and just one is selected for this prestigious honor. TRALA’s selection committee selects the top driver who operates their vehicle in a safe and responsible manner and whose contributions have enhanced the overall safety of commercial transportation. Jerry is the final person to be named as a TRALA Driver of the Year.

Wood who has worked for Penske Logistics since 1998 and has more than 6 million miles in his 53-year career as a professional truck driver without a single accident. He is a U.S. Army Veteran.
