Port of Hueneme, California - The Oxnard Harbor District Port of Hueneme’s CEO & Port Director Kristin Decas was named General Manager of the Year by the Ventura County Special District Association. The Association has represented over 20 independently governed special districts located in Ventura County since 1974. Decas was among many nominated for the top award.
“I would like to recognize the Ventura County Special Districts Association for the value and strength it provides Ventura County and Special Districts,” Decas began. “I am humbled to be selected for this accolade. It takes a village to realize success. I would like to thank my Port Board of Harbor Commissioners for their leadership and tireless efforts; the Port’s team, our industry and community partners. Every spoke in the wheel, all these stakeholders give 100% to the progress of the Port, which in turn has created 23.5% growth over the past 6 years.”In addition to growing cargo volumes, Decas has solidified the Port as a guardian of the local environment. From implementing several environmental initiatives including shoreside power, public EV charging stations, storm water retention, clean air vehicles, a zero waste policy, and a first-of-its-kind joint clean air plan with the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District; Decas has worked with her Board of Harbor Commissioners to make Hueneme a leader in comprehensive environmental management. Their efforts also earned the Port of Hueneme the title of the Greenest U.S. Port from the Green Shipping Summit.
“Kristin is very deserving of this recognition,” said Mary Anne Rooney, Oxnard Harbor District Commissioner. “Her passion, dedication, and service to the interests of our local community and our Port customers, is a true testament to her character.”
