Leonard’s Express – a leading transportation services provider offering refrigerated trucking, dry van, warehousing, and freight brokerage services – has been named a 2024 “Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation” by the Women In Trucking Association (WIT). WIT’s mission is to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments, and minimize the obstacles they face. This is the third consecutive year Leonard’s Express has been recognized as a Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation.

“Leonard’s Express is to be commended for earning recognition as a 2024 Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation by Redefining the Road, the official magazine for the Women in Trucking Association,” said Brian Everett, Group Publisher and Editorial Director. “Organizations recognized on this impressive list have proven they are supportive of gender diversity by accommodating family and work balance; offering competitive compensation, benefits, and professional growth; and providing career advancement opportunities.”

Each company nominated for this coveted award is carefully reviewed by WIT to ensure they meet the threshold of qualifications. Then individuals from across the industry vote for the companies they believe deserve the honor. WIT received more than 31,000 votes from transportation professionals to finalize the 2024 list.

Leonard’s Express has several programs and initiatives that distinguish the company as a top workplace for women. Its Women In Trucking committee meets quarterly to discuss strategies to encourage gender equity when hiring drivers and other employees. The committee also focuses on developing female leaders, addressing workplace challenges, and celebrating accomplishments through internal and external recognition programs. For example, Leonard’s Express established the Patricia “Pat” Johnson Award to honor the company’s co-founder and recognize the extraordinary women of Leonard’s Express (as well as its affiliated companies) who embody Johnson’s passion, generosity, selflessness, honesty, independence and integrity. Each year Leonard’s Express celebrates the winners and nominees with an award ceremony at its headquarters in Upstate New York.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized by Women In Trucking for the third consecutive year,” said Leonard’s Express CEO Kyle Johnson. “Leonard’s Express was built on a strong foundation of leadership by women and men like Pat and Kent Johnson. We’re proud to continue their legacy by supporting and elevating the women of Leonard’s, many of whom represent the future of our company.”

This year’s list of Top Companies for Women to Work in Transportation is comprised of a diverse range of business sectors in the commercial freight transportation marketplace, including motor carriers, third-party logistics companies, and original equipment manufacturers. The companies will be recognized at the upcoming WIT Accelerate! Conference & Expo November 10-13 in Dallas.
