Maersk Vessel MAERSK ATHABASCA, deployed on our elephant service voyage 112W, has been diverted to Vizhinjam, India due to suspected cases of COVID-19 onboard while en-route from Tanjung Pelapas, Malaysia to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Maersk has confirmed that several crew members have been tested positive. The affected crew members will be taken onshore for medical treatment. Subsequently, the entire crew will be changed, and the vessel sanitised before the vessel can continue her journey to Salalah, Oman causing a delay for cargo onboard.
