Pan-European logistics real estate specialist Verdion has leased further space at iPort, the multimodal logistics hub just outside Doncaster, to Maritime Transport. The leading transport business has taken an additional 4 acres on a long-term lease, doubling the size of its HGV parking facility on-site.

Maritime Transport will now be able to accommodate up to 170 HGVs and 85 car parking spaces with immediate effect to reflect its growth in the region. The business took an initial 4 acres in 2020, including a new 4,000 sq ft high quality office and amenity building.

The deal follows lettings to Woodland Group and Euro Pool Systems earlier this year. A further building, iP2f, which totals 174,380 sq ft, is available for immediate occupation. iP10, the final facility in Verdion’s latest round of speculative development will complete later this month bringing a further 259,266 sq ft to the market.

John Clements, Executive Director at Verdion, said: “Maritime Transport has already proved that iPort is a strong strategic location, with the business benefitting from outstanding road links as well as our on-site rail freight terminal. This decision to expand was a natural progression given the strength of demand for services and we were pleased to be able to accommodate this growth alongside our wider development plans. Building iP2f is currently the only Grade A unit available in Yorkshire and our next completion should also see significant interest given the region’s lack of supply.”

Simon Smart, Chief Executive Officer at Maritime Transport, said, “We are pleased to agree a long-term lease to extend our transport depot at iPort on the back of strong market demand and customer support. iPort Doncaster is an excellent strategic fit within our network and the development at iPort with its exceptional transport links is second to none. The additional land will double the size of our operation which only commenced at the start of 2020.”

iPort is one of the UK’s most advanced multimodal logistics hub, with capacity for a total of 6 million sq ft of 24/7 of logistics and light industrial accommodation close to Junction 3 of the M18 and the East Coast Main Line. It also benefits from an award-winning multimodal on-site rail freight terminal. iPort Rail, is increasingly being used by companies based on-site and across the region looking to cut carbon across their supply chains, with rail connections to major UK sea ports. Other occupiers include Amazon, CEVA, Fellowes, Lidl, Dusk, Kingsbury Press, Woodland Group and Euro Pool Systems, while its remaining 1.7 million sq ft includes capacity for buildings of up to 800,000 sq ft.
