As part of Maersk Line's ongoing efforts to better serve customers, they have announced service enhancements between North America and the Middle East, India, and Pakistan. The enhancements will further enable them to meet customers' transportation requirements through improved transit times, expanded port coverage, optimized sailing frequency, and unmatched schedule reliability. The new features include:

MECL1

  • Best in market transit - 20 days - from Karachi, Pakistan to North America with early week arrival (Monday) in Newark, New Jersey, via our direct Pakistan - USA service
  • Fast 18 day transit from Nhava Sheva, India, to Newark, New Jersey, with early week arrival (Monday) for same week deliveries
  • US East Coast rotation amended to sail North to South providing faster service to core markets
  • First sailing Westbound is the Maersk Missouri voyage 0706 arriving at Karachi, Pakistan, on 12 March, and first sailing Eastbound is the Maersk Missouri voyage 0707 expected in Newark, New Jersey, on 2 April

MECL2

  • Direct service from Chennai/Madras, India, providing Southern India with a unique direct link to and from USA
  • Allows Chennai/Madras, India, to act as transshipment hub for cargo to and from Visakhapatnam, Calcutta/Haldia, and Bangladesh
  • Additional South Atlantic port coverage including Savannah, Georgia, as a direct service
  • US East Coast enhanced sailing rotation from South to North which provides better service to key United States ports with faster transit times to and from Bangladesh, South & East India, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan
  • Improved service reliability during Monsoon season with additional buffer in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent
  • First sailing Westbound is the Maersk Djibouti voyage 0704 arriving at Chennai, India, on 16 March, and first sailing Eastbound is the Maersk Djibouti voyage 0705 expected in Savannah, Georgia, on 10 April.
