Oslo, Norway - With implementation of the IMO’s new low-sulphur fuel regulation just around the corner, industry momentum for The Trident Alliance’s “effective enforcement” mission continues to grow. To date, more than 50 shipping companies have come together to advocate for effective enforcement of the new sulphur fuel scheme.
The Trident Alliance, a network of shipping companies and other stakeholders with a shared interest in effective, transparent enforcement of global sulphur regulations, is delighted to welcome MPC Container Ships and Ahrenkiel Steamship as our newest members.
“MPC Container Ships is pleased to be committed to complying with the new sulphur rules,” explained Constantin Baack, CEO of MPC Container Ships. “Joining the Trident Alliance allows us to align our company with an important network of like-minded industry peers, and support industry-wide calls for effective and transparent enforcement around the world.”
“By joining The Trident Alliance, our aim at Ahrenkiel Steamships is to show our support for fair competition and consistent enforcement of the new sulphur fuel regulations, while demonstrating our commitment to innovative thinking at sea and ashore,” said Dr. Michael Silies, CEO of Ahrenkiel Steamship. “We look forward to joining forces with our peers who share our commitment to effective, transparent enforcement of IMO 2020.”
“On behalf of the Trident Alliance, I am delighted to welcome MPC Container Ships and Ahrenkiel Steamship as our newest members,” said Roger Strevens, the Chairman of The Trident Alliance and VP of global sustainability at Wallenius Wilhelmsen. “As the industry and regulators continue to tighten their focus on the many practicalities of compliance and enforcement, we expect momentum for our mission and advocacy efforts to continue.”
