In light of various near-miss incidents faced by MSC in the past months, all of which could have led to dramatic consequences for its crew, ships and the environment, MSC has announced that they will increase the amount of its Misdeclaration Fee (CMD) to USD 15,000/per container on all cargo from any to all destinations with immediate effect.
The fee is applicable to mis declared and undeclared hazardous goods and IMDG cargo where the merchant has failed to truthfully, accurately and sufficiently describe the goods in compliance with MSC’s terms and conditions of carriage or any applicable law or regulation, whether intentionally or otherwise.
