North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) issued the following statement from President Sean McGarvey on the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump and Vice President JD Vance:
“NABTU, along with our 3 million members who represent the heart of America’s workforce, is eager to work alongside President Trump to advance policies that empower our hardworking men and women.
“President Trump, many of our members voted for you and are counting on you to prioritize critical issues that affect their lives—job growth, fair wages, health and safety, and the strengthening of our nation’s infrastructure and economic security. Our members, and indeed all of America, will rely on your leadership to protect and uplift the frameworks that have been central to America’s success.
“As we move forward, we recognize there will be many competing demands, but we urge you to ensure that these priorities are not only heard but acted upon. We also strongly encourage your Administration to avoid short-sighted decisions that could undermine progress for American construction workers, particularly in areas such as Registered Apprenticeship programs, Project Labor Agreements, wages, and energy initiatives that prioritize America’s workforce. These critical tools have long supported American workers and their families, ensuring fair wages, safety protections, and job security. Weakening or dismantling these frameworks would harm the very workers who power and build this nation, jeopardizing both their futures and the long-term health of America’s workforce. The work ahead demands unity and a shared commitment to creating economic security and expanding opportunities for our members and all American workers.”
