National Shipping of America (NSA) launched the first sailing for its new service under Marad’s American Marine Highway Program with the M-10 designation. The new service is a domestic water service between NSA’s base port of Houston, TX to Port Everglades, FL, providing customers an alternative to over the road trucking. The service sails from Houston on Wednesdays, arriving in Port Everglades Saturdays, continuing onto San Juan, Puerto Rico.

This unique service caters to customers moving freight from Central, South & the Border areas of Texas to the South, Florida market. The service offers customers:

Door-to-door domestic service at competitive highway rates.

Equipment availability to meet all customer needs - 20’, 40’, and 45’ high cube dry, 40’ reefer and 40’flat racks

Heavy shipment load capability of cargo greater than 43,500 lbs. per container

 Eliminates the risk of long-haul, highway transportation of hazardous commodities through major metropolitan areas

“Our M-10 Marine Highway service not only provides our customers with an economical alternative to over the road trucking services but as importantly, it provides an environmentally friendly inland option that reduces greenhouse gas emissions, decreases highway congestion and mitigates driver shortages associated with trucking,” said Torey Presti, President of National Shipping.

“Port Everglades is proud to partner in this new U.S. marine highway linking South Florida to Central Texas with National Shipping of America and our long-time customer Sun Terminals. NSA’s new service will be a great asset to expanding domestic trade via ocean versus roadway and will greatly benefit South Florida’s growing consumer market while decreasing highway congestion,” said Jonathan Daniels, Port Everglades Chief Executive and Port Director
