The Flemish government launches a new call for projects to raise the effectiveness of freight transport to and from the Flemish ports. Private companies can be granted subsidies for projects which improve in the short run the effectiveness of freight transport via the waterway or the rail system. The financial backing applies for a period of maximum 3 years and amounts to 200,000 euros at the maximum per project. In this respect, the Flemish government and the port of Zeebrugge aim at encouraging and subsidizing innovative projects.
Also the port of Zeebrugge continually strives for new transport alternatives or a modal shift. Being a clean port, the coastal port strives for durable transport modes, which not only raise the effectiveness of freight transport, but which also contribute to the achievement of the climate targets.
