AMI ’ the world’s largest freight wholesaler ’ has appointed Paul Farnan to the newly-created post of Sales & Development Manager for the Pacific region, based in its Auckland office.
The company already has a significant presence and business base in Australasia, having merged with well-known consolidator UAC in April 2007. It recently adopted the AMI brand at all of its 9 locations in the USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
AMI provides trade-only airfreight and ocean FCL and LCL services from New Zealand and Australia to Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa, Port Vila, Noumea, Papeete, Nuku Alofa and Raratonga. The company also has long-standing airfreight and ocean transshipment business originating from its European and USA bases. It has also developed a successful transshipment program from Asia into the Pacific Islands.
In his new role, Farnan will be responsible for sales and marketing of all AMI services from worldwide points of origin to destinations across the entire Pacific Islands region, involving traveling for some 20 weeks a year.
Farnan’s freight industry career has included 8 years with Ports of Auckland, eight years with Pacific Forum Line, and periods in freight forwarding and perishables shipping.
Says Farnan: ‘AMI already has a very strong business base resulting from its own and UAC’s activities in this market, going back over 20 years.
‘The concept of trade-only freight wholesaling in this region has the potential for much more growth, and I look forward to offering the expanded range of services and origin markets that results from the combination of UAC and AMI. The services provided by AMI open the Pacific to the world.’
