NOLA Terminal announces two additions to its executive team. The company’s board of directors has named Brian Miles chief executive officer and Allen Newman vice president of commercial operations. NOLA Terminal, the newest, state-of-the-art facility along the Mississippi River, will be the first of its kind in the region, allowing access for much larger vessels, up to and including cape sized vessels.
In the river and logistics business for more than three decades, Brian Miles’ experience in the industry is wide ranging. After 10 years as a traffic management and logistics specialist in the U. S. Air Force, he shifted his focus from troops and equipment to dry bulk cargo. He moved products including grain, fertilizer and coal working in sales for National Marine Barge Line and MG Transport. He subsequently held vice president of sales positions with United Bulk Terminal and Biehl & Co. shipping agency.
Allen Newman has 30 years of experience in the river and logistics business. His commercial mindset — coupled with an aptitude for relationship building between employees, customers and partners — makes him a well-respected figure in the logistics industry and a valuable addition to the NOLA Terminal team.
Newman spent 20 years at International Marine Terminal, primarily as traffic manager overseeing scheduling of inbound and outbound barges and vessels. In a subsequent role as logistics manager at United Bulk Terminal, Newman managed over 10MM tons of incoming cargo and vessels. He also built and managed the terminal’s vessel laycan schedule for upwards of 170 export vessels and 80 domestic vessels. Prior to joining NOLA Terminal, Newman was a commercial manager at BIS Construction and Ship Services where he was responsible for vessel services sales and growth.
“Under the leadership of Brian and Allen, NOLA Terminal is entering a new and fruitful chapter, as we continue to build and expand infrastructure to develop a world-class ship, barge and dock system in Plaquemines Parish,” said Christian Amedee, NOLA Terminal founder and chief operating officer. “They are both fully immersed and well-regarded in the logistics industry and will bring invaluable capabilities and services to our partners and customers in Louisiana and across the country.”
