In view of the current situation of the coronavirus outbreak, OOCL is taking appropriate steps across our global network in order to ensure the health and safety of staff and the continuity of high levels of service to customers.
Updated status of China offices
In order to ensure business continuity and maintaining of smooth operations, OOCL staff continues to remain readily available to serve our customers' requirements in this special period despite the office situation.
Below are some examples of our preventive and contingency measures in place to protect our staff and client:
- Staff segregation plans implemented to minimize the staff concentration in the offices. Work-from-home and flexible working arrangements are in place while ensuring business continuity
- All OOCL staff are asked to wear protective masks, while front-line counter staff wear protective masks and gloves
- Minimizing the time for face-to-face meetings
- Providing regular disinfection and cleaning in our offices
- Keep closer communications with vendors and property management companies regarding health and safety
General Status of China Ports
Currently, most container terminals in China are in normal operations, except for some terminals such as those in Shanghai, Tianjin, and Ningbo where there have been challenges in handling the flow of reefer containers due to the huge demand for reefer sockets on shore. OOCL is working very closely with customers if recovery action is required to minimize any potential impact to their reefer shipments.
Preventive Measures for Sea Crew
To ensure the health and safety of seafaring professions on OOCL vessels, below are some examples of preventive measures taken:
- Crew replacement is suspended
- Postpone home leave requests by the crew for the time being
- Restrict crew to go ashore in Chinese ports and the ports of other countries subject to local requirements
- Temperature check of any personnel at all Chinese ports before they are permitted to board OOCL vessels
- All crew members should put on protective masks at all times when operating at each port of call
- Conduct body temperature check and health/medical declaration as required
