FREEPORT, TX – Port Freeport welcomed Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar on his Tour of Texas Ports. Port Freeport Executive Director/CEO Phyllis Saathoff gave a presentation to Hegar and his staff on the State of the Port and strategic initiatives followed by a Port tour. The tour included, a visit to port tenant, Freeport LNG where Comptroller Hegar received a briefing and virtual tour of the largest LNG liquefaction facility being constructed in the state.
“I applaud Comptroller Hegar for recognizing the economic significance of ports to the State of Texas and the role they play in making Texas the world’s 10th largest economy,” stated Port Freeport Chairman Ravi Singhania. “Port Freeport alone adds $3.7 billion to the state’s gross domestic product,” said Singhania.
The Port also hosted local economic development leaders, where Hegar briefed the attendees on the economic impact that Port Freeport has on the State of Texas noting Port Freeport is poised to become the deepest of all Texas ports. Port Freeport operations contribute $7 billion to Texas seaport trade helping Texas remain the nation’s largest exporter.
“It was a great honor to host and show Comptroller Hegar our port’s expansion and provide an update on the continuing growth plans as a major gateway for global commerce,” said Executive Director/CEO Phyllis Saathoff.
Port Freeport is ranked among the Nation’s top 35 ports. The Channel serves Dow Chemical, Phillips 66, BASF, Tenaris, Vulcan Material, Mammoet, Freeport Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG), American Rice, Dole, Chiquita, Seaway, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), and Hoegh Autoliners.
