Historic announcement regarding the target date for Zero Emissions at the Port of Hueneme in Celebration of Worlds Ocean’s Day

The Port of Hueneme invites media representatives to attend a historic announcement at the start of its World Oceans Day event. The Port will unveil its date for zero emissions for Port operations as set in its Blueprint to Zero Emissions (ZE) Initiative. This announcement will provide an overview of the Port's ZE Planning and Implementation efforts, highlighting the progress made and future plans. Media attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Port officials and experts, gaining insights into the Port's innovative strategies to achieve zero emission operations and enhance environmental sustainability.

Climate Action Plan: In 2022, the Port was awarded federal funding to develop a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan under the broader climate, energy and air quality program known as Port of Hueneme, Reducing Emissions, Supporting Health (PHRESH). This program reflects our ongoing commitment to reducing emissions and supporting public health.

Blueprint to Zero Emissions (ZE): In 2021, the Port of Hueneme was awarded funding by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to develop a comprehensive ZE Blueprint. This initiative involved a detailed technical analysis and outreach project to assess the ZE fuel needs, volumes and costs necessary for implementation of zero emission operations.
