Jack London Square is inviting the public to come to the Oakland waterfront this summer and enjoy more, free, outdoor screenings of Hollywood classics, suitable for the whole family.

The movie series is a celebration of summer and community, all while showcasing what Jack London Square has to offer.

“Waterfront Flicks is a community favorite at Jack London Square,” said Port of Oakland Chief Real Estate Officer Jonathan Veach. “It’s hard to beat a free outdoor movie on the waterfront with some take out from one of your favorite Jack London Square restaurants. The Port truly takes pride in hosting community-centered placemaking events like Waterfront Flicks.”

The next open-air screenings are tomorrow evening, June 22, and then the following two Saturdays, June 29, and July 6. Movie-goers can bring blankets, chairs, and even snacks or take-out from Jack London Square eateries and settle in for movie night fun along with friends, family and community. The first movie kicked off the series June 15 and featured Shrek. The next movies are:

Toy Story (G), June 22

Beetlejuice (PG), June 29

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (PG), July 6

When: Saturday evenings (6/22 – 7/6) at dusk/8:30 p.m.

Where: The Marina Lawn near Heinold’s First and Last Chance Saloon

There is something for everyone. Delight in the story of a cowboy doll named Woody, whose ego is threatened by the new space toy, Buzz Lightyear, who thinks he is a real astronaut (Toy Story).

Enjoy the antics of a deceased couple who are harassed by an obnoxious family that moves into their house, until they hire an evil spirit to drive them out (Beetlejuice).

Or sit on the edge of your seats when a scientist father accidentally shrinks his teenage kids as well as the neighbors’ kids, and witness their odyssey through their backyard, where everything is larger than life (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids).

The free outdoor event is open to the public and seat reservations are not required.
