The Port of Seattle issued the following statement in response to today’s Seattle City Council committee hearing on Council Bill 120933:
“In 2023, the City of Seattle passed legislation that made it clear that Seattle is a maritime city, and its industrial lands are the key to a strong working waterfront and an economic benefit not only to the city but to the region.
This amendment upends a decade of certainty to drive innovation and job creation as well as maintaining our competitiveness within the global supply chain, all to benefit one property owner, impacting the next wave of Seattle’s leadership on the regional and global maritime stage. Time is better spent on creating a port for the future on our industrial lands that will support growing our maritime industry and clean energy jobs of the future right here in Seattle.”
