Ports of Indiana made six recent hires and promotions to support strategic growth initiatives. New hires include Autumne Mahone as Vice President of Marketing, Stephanie Vale as Director of Grants and Sustainability, and Jeron Satterfield as Staff Accountant. The statewide port authority also promoted Erica Jackson to Chief Financial Officer, Mark Keen to Controller, and Michelle Keen to Billing and Office Coordinator.
“I’m not sure I can put into words how excited I am about the team we are building at Ports of Indiana,” said Ports of Indiana CEO Jody Peacock. “It’s a special honor to be able to promote individuals making significant contributions to our organization, and I can’t say enough about the accomplishments Erica, Mark and Michelle have made to our finance department. In addition, Autumne, Steph and Jeron bring a new infusion of energy with diverse capabilities and skillsets that will help take us to new levels as we prepare for major growth.”
Jackson returns to the role of CFO, having served in that leadership position for Ports of Indiana from 2019 to 2021. Also having served as Vice President of Finance for Ports of Indiana and Senior Bank Examiner for the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions, Jackson earned an MBA degree in Data Analytics from Indiana Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Toledo.
Mahone joins Ports of Indiana after 13 years with public utility locating company USIC, most recently as Director of Marketing & Communications. She also held marketing positions for DTM Real Estate Services and BradyGAMES, while also operating her own marketing consultancy for six years. Mahone has earned an MBA, a master’s degree in marketing, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Vale joins Ports of Indiana’s planning, grants and sustainability team after five years with the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) where she held leadership roles in project management and information technology, being named the department’s 2021 Employee of the Year. Vale previously worked in IT project management and systems analysis for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and Cognizant Technology Solutions. She has a master’s degree in public affairs and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, and a Project Management Professional Certification from the Project Management Institute.
Prior to being named Controller, Mark Keen served as senior accountant for Ports of Indiana, a senior bank examiner for the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions and a senior accountant for Centier Bank. Keen is a certified CPA, holds a master’s degree in accounting from Western Governors University and is a Certified Examiner In-Charge licensed by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors.
Michelle Keen joined Ports of Indiana during 2018 in an administrative role at the Burns Harbor port, gradually taking on increasing responsibilities which led to her recent promotion. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Mount Saint Clare College in Iowa, and previously managed bookkeeping for a northwest Indiana accounting firm.
Satterfield was previously a staff accountant at the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District, and a student trainee at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Indianapolis while attending Indiana University. He graduated from the IU Kelley School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in business in May 2023.
