There is high risk of fire danger due to expected strong winds and low humidity in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a result, PG&E may implement planned power outages to reduce fire risk. These outages may affect the Port of Oakland Maritime Area. Therefore, please note the following:

  • If PG&E shuts down power to the Port, PG&E-served and Port Utility-served customers will lose power.
  • The power could be shut down as early as tomorrow morning, Wednesday, 10/9/2019.
  • The power shutdown could last for 1-5 days – PG&E must inspect/test transmission lines before power is turned back on.
  • Neither PG&E or the Port will provide any back up power.
  • For more information, please visit the City of Oakland web site to identify areas that may lose power due to high fire risk – as of now, the Port is not identified as an area that will lose power however we encourage you to monitor the website for new information.
  • The Port will provide additional information as the situation evolves through email distribution and its website www.portofoakland.com.

The first phase of power outages took place at 12 a.m. on October 9, 2019. The Port of Oakland was NOT impacted in this initial outage.
