The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) announced the hiring of Prianka Sharma as vice president and counsel for regulatory affairs. She previously served with the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Advocacy as assistant chief counsel for agriculture, energy, and natural resources policy.
Sharma will play a lead role in representing the association’s regulatory and legal positions before federal agencies and the courts on issues affecting ARTBA members and the transportation construction industry. These include environmental policy, contracting requirements, permitting reform, and implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
At SBA’s Office of Advocacy, Sharma represented small business interests nationwide with federal agencies and stakeholders to negotiate and enact sound regulatory policy that considered the burden on small business. She helped small businesses navigate regulatory initiatives from the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Interior, Commerce, Environmental Protection Agency, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, resulting in cost savings for these companies.
Sharma previously clerked for Hon. Janet Albert and Hon. Mary Grace Rook at the District of Columbia Superior Court. As a litigation law fellow at the D.C. Volunteer Lawyers Project, she represented low-income domestic violenc victims in all aspects of family law litigation.
