The name 'Navigator Award' signifies the fundamental concept behind the award ' helping Sea Star Line to 'stay on course' in its efforts to achieve its goals & objectives. A unique aspect of the Navigator Award is that it can be awarded to an employee, a customer, or a vendor. Nominations can be made by any Sea Star employee.
The award ceremony was held on January 17th, in conjunction with the company's annual executive meetings ' which were held at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama. Awards were presented by Frank Peake, Sea Star Line president and COO.
It is apparent that the vision, foundations, and support provided by these men were right for Sea Star Line and right for the market,' said Peake. 'When no one else believed, Brad pushed to make Sea Star Line a reality and to secure the type of support necessary to ensure the company was given a chance to succeed. Then, during that difficult period as we transitioned from upstart to best-of-class carrier, Bob kept us on course and made sure we were positioned to stay there. Sea Star Line's current strength and momentum are a testament to these men's insight and resolve.'
Mr. Mulholland served as president and CEO, and vice-chairman of the board of directors, of Matson Navigation Company, Inc. As one of Sea Star Line's initial investors, Matson helped take Sea Star Line from inception to established and respected carrier. Mulholland played a primary role in Matson's support and development of Sea Star Line. In addition to his extensive service in a variety of industry associations and charitable organizations, Mulholland was honored in 1996 by the United Seamen's Service with the prestigious Admiral of the Ocean Sea (AOTOS) award.
Mr. Magee currently serves as President and CEO of American Shipping Group, Inc. American Shipping Group is a holding company that comprises the blue water domestic and military support shipping businesses of Saltchuk Resources. In addition to Sea Star Line, American Shipping Group owns Totem Ocean Trailer Express ' a liner company serving Alaska, and Interocean Ugland Management ' a ship management company. In 2004, McGee was also honored with the acclaimed Admiral of the Ocean Sea (AOTOS) award.
