Silvasti Ltd, Member to the CEE in Finland, transported 5 massive steel structures from Kalajoki, FIN to Kasn’s, FIN. These bridge blocks, biggest so far in Finland, were to be used for new 470 meters long bridge at L’v’. Silvasti’s scope included loading and securing of structures and transport to the worksite by barges. The two largest structures were each 114 meter long and 11 meters wide. Weight was 240 tons per piece. The rest of the structures were each 80 meter long and weighted around 200 tons per piece. This was a demanding project and very unique.

  • loading structures from factory to the pontoon in port of Kalajoki, using 8x4 heavy duty tractors, modular axle lines and SPMT ‘axles
  • securing structures to the pontoon by chains and welding
  • sea transport from Kalajoki, FIN to Kasn’s, L’v’ ‘worksite by pontoons pulled by tug boats, in two shipments
  • undoing the weldings after sea transport and coordination of unloading process
