SSA Marine focuses on safety and it shows.
The Seattle-based stevedoring company and its affiliates, won numerous 2018 safety awards announced last week by the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), which administers maritime labor agreements at West Coast ports. SSA Marine was awarded first place for coast accident prevention at the nation’s largest port: Los Angeles-Long Beach. It also took the highest honors at three smaller West Coast operations: the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, WA.; Sacramento, CA.; and Everett, WA.
Rob Dieda, SSA Marine’s PNW Safety Director, credited the awards to a culture of safety that draws together all aspects of the company.
“The one goal that all of us at SSA Marine share is creating the safest possible work environment – for our customers, for our employees and for all who are associated with us in the maritime community,” Dieda said.
“We take safety very seriously and work extremely hard every day, every shift to ensure our workforce has a safe work environment. From our Board and senior management through to the workforce, operations management and safety management, we are all in this together. As a group we will continue to pursue continual safety excellence.”
SSA received the honors at the 70th annual PMA Accident Prevention Committee Safety Awards.
